Job Title: Mortgage Underwriter
Location: Newcastle Upon Tyne
Salary: £30k-40k
Key Responsibilities:
* Evaluate mortgage applications, including the review of credit reports, income documentation, and property appraisals.
* Assess the creditworthiness and risk profile of applicants to make sound underwriting decisions.
* Ensure all mortgage applications comply with company policies, investor guidelines, and regulatory requirements.
* Verify the accuracy and completeness of all submitted documentation.
* Approve or decline mortgage applications based on thorough analysis and established criteria.
* Provide clear and concise feedback to loan officers and applicants regarding underwriting decisions.
* Maintain detailed and organized records of all underwriting decisions and supporting documentation.
* Stay updated on industry trends, regulatory changes, and best practices to enhance underwriting processes.
Requirements:
* Proven experience as a Mortgage Underwriter or in a similar role within the mortgage industry.
* In-depth knowledge of mortgage lending practices, regulations, and guidelines.
* Strong analytical and decision-making skills.
* Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.
* Effective communication skills, both written and verbal.
* Proficiency in using mortgage underwriting software and other relevant tools.
* Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
