The Position?
As a Development/Operational Accountant, you will play a crucial role in overseeing the financial operations of our real estate development and property management projects in Florida. The Operational Accountant portion will manage day-to-day accounting functions, ensure accuracy in financial reporting, and provide strategic financial insights to support business decisions. The Development Accountant portion will play a crucial role in managing the financial aspects of our development projects, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and efficiency throughout the process.
What are we looking for in a Development Accountant?
To excel in this role, you will need a Bachelor's degree in Accounting or a related field, along with a solid understanding of financial reporting and accounting principles. A minimum of 3 years of experience in a similar role, particularly in the real estate development or affordable housing industry, is preferred.
What will be your responsibilities as a Development Project Accountant?
As a Development Project Accountant at Wendover Housing Partners, LLC, you will be responsible for various financial accounting and reporting tasks supporting our multi-family residential. Your key responsibilities include:
Financial Reporting:
Prepare monthly financial statements for assigned properties.
Ensure compliance with GAAP and company accounting policies.
Analyze financial data and provide variance analysis to identify trends, opportunities, and risks.
Budgeting and Forecasting:
Assist in the development of property-level budgets and forecasts.
Monitor actual performance against budgets and forecasts, identifying areas for improvement or cost-saving opportunities.
Provide recommendations to management based on financial analysis.
Accounts Payable and Receivable:
Manage accounts payable processes, including invoice processing, vendor payments, and reconciliations.
Cash Management:
Monitor cash flow for assigned properties, ensuring sufficient funds are available for operational needs.
Prepare cash flow forecasts and projections.
Optimize cash management strategies to maximize liquidity and minimize borrowing costs.
Requirements
To qualify for this job, you will need to have the following qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field. CPA or advanced degree preferred.
3+ years of accounting experience in the real estate industry, preferably with exposure to property management.
Strong understanding of GAAP principles and financial reporting requirements.
Proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Excel.
Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
Ability to multitask, prioritize workload, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
Effective communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate across departments.
Detail-oriented with a high level of accuracy and integrity.
