Frontline Recruitment in Weymouth are seeking an experienced CAD Technician (PCM) to join one of our client’s friendly team in Weymouth, on permanent bases.

You will make part of their Manufacturing Support Team and report to the Senior Process Engineer.

As a CAD Technician, you will play a crucial role in the design and development process by crating detailed technical drawings and plans using 2D and 3D computer-aided design (CAD) software. You will work closely with a variety of both internal and external stakeholders to translate conceptual ideas into precise and accurate drawings for product creation.

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

Use Works Orders to create detailed drawings based on sketches, specifications, and other input from product stakeholders.

Utilize CAD software to accurately depict dimensions, materials, and other relevant details.

Review drawings for accuracy, completeness and compliance with technical standards and project requirements. Identify and correct errors and inconsistencies to ensure quality and integrity of the final deliverables

Manage multiple projects concurrently, delivering progress reports efficiently to the Manufacturing Support team and ensure all planning systems are updated in a timely manner

For non-standard jobs, work collaboratively with key internal and external stakeholders to ensure documented commercial arrangements are maintained.

Produce accurate photo tools and laser for manufacture to customer requirements.

Be responsible for correct version control and issue of accurate film work.

Maintain the film library in a controlled and readily accessible condition to ensure timely generation of photo tools in with the Master Production Schedule (MPS)

Maintain organised files and documentation of all drawings and revisions. Track changes and updates throughout the design process, ensuring internal systems and documents (ERP, T-Cards, Neg Library etc.) are maintained accurately and all stakeholders have access to the most current and accurate information.

Assist in the development of scripts to improve efficiency and automation of the CAD processes.

Assist in the development of 3D modelling and tooling required throughout the business.

Support TSL CAD when demand dictates.

Comply with all relevant company and departmental People, Health, Safety & Environmental policies and procedures at all times.

Any other duties that may be required by the company to meet the business requirements.

Technical Requirements

Computer literacy

Microsoft Office experience (Word, Excel & Outlook)

Knowledge of PCB design software (GC-CAM, PowerStation etc.)

Knowledge of AutoCAD (or similar 2D CAD package)

Knowledge of Autodesk Inventor (or similar 3D CAD package)

Ability to interpret engineering drawings

Good logical & problem-solving skills

Ability to work quickly and accurately to meet deadlines and complete work to a high standard

Knowledge of Autodesk Vault (or similar document control software)

Knowledge of modern manufacturing methods for low to medium volume production

Familiarity with designing components, conducting tests, and analysing production and field failure data.

Education and Experience

Minimum of level 3 CAD Qualification (e.g., City & Guilds)

Minimum of 2 years’ recent experience using CAD software

Previous experience in lithographic’ s or surface mount electronics

Experience working in a chemical or metal manufacturing environment

Contract: Full time, Permanent – 39 hours per week.

Working pattern: Monday – Thursday 08:00 – 16:45, Fridays 08:00 – 14:00

Salary scale: £23k - £30k DOE
