We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Quantity Surveyor to join our team at a leading civil engineering contractor specializing in rail infrastructure projects. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing the commercial aspects of rail projects, with a focus on structures and off-track asset management. This role offers an exciting opportunity to play a key role in the delivery of high-profile rail projects and contribute to the continued success and growth of our organization.

Responsibilities:

1. Commercial Management: Lead and manage the commercial aspects of rail projects, including cost estimation, budgeting, forecasting, procurement, and contract administration, ensuring compliance with contractual agreements, specifications, and budgetary constraints.

2. Quantity Surveying: Undertake quantity surveying duties, including measurement, valuation, and assessment of work packages, variations, and claims, in accordance with standard methods of measurement and industry best practices.

3. Cost Control: Implement robust cost control procedures to monitor and manage project costs throughout the project lifecycle, identifying cost-saving opportunities, mitigating cost overruns, and ensuring projects are delivered within budgetary constraints.

4. Contract Administration: Administer project contracts, subcontracts, and procurement agreements, including the preparation, negotiation, and settlement of contract terms, conditions, variations, and final accounts, in accordance with contractual requirements and company policies.

5. Risk Management: Identify, assess, and mitigate project risks and uncertainties, developing proactive strategies to minimize potential impacts on project performance, cost, and schedule, and ensuring timely and effective risk mitigation measures are implemented.

6. Client Relationship Management: Serve as the primary point of contact for clients, subcontractors, suppliers, and other stakeholders, building strong relationships and effectively managing communication to ensure alignment with project objectives, expectations, and deliverables.

7. Team Leadership: Provide leadership, mentorship, and guidance to quantity surveyors and commercial staff, fostering a collaborative and high-performance work environment that promotes innovation, teamwork, and continuous improvement, and ensures the development and growth of team members.

Qualifications:

* Bachelor’s degree in quantity surveying

* Professional membership of a recognized institution (e.g., RICS, CIQS, CIOB).

* Minimum of five years of experience in quantity surveying, ideally with a focus on rail infrastructure projects, particularly structures and off-track asset management.

* Proven track record of successful commercial management and quantity surveying duties on rail projects, including budgeting, procurement, contract administration, and risk management.

* Strong technical knowledge and understanding of rail infrastructure, including structures, track, and off-track assets, with the ability to interpret engineering drawings, specifications, and contract documents.

* Excellent communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively collaborate with diverse stakeholders and multidisciplinary project teams.

* Proficiency in quantity surveying software, cost management tools, and project management software
