I am currently working with a British, heritage engineering business with circa 300 staff and a UK turnover in the region of £75m based in West Yorkshire. The business are PE backed investing heavily to make the engineering facility best in class. The business has declared a significant intention to grow having recently increased the size of their manufacturing footprint by over 30%. The business is involved with some of the UK’s largest capital engineering projects and are very well placed with some large contract awards on the horizon with a significant period of sustained growth forecast.

They are currently looking for a Manufacturing Director to oversee and deliver the operational aspect of the company strategy, ensuring all departments are accountable and aligned to the delivery of the plan. Ensuring the master schedule is in line with the business requirements and that this flows down to machine level and is measured.

This role has the following responsibilities:

To lead and develop an efficient manufacturing operation in line with the site plan and KPI’s.

*

Lead the way in respect of the highest standard of safety performance across all areas.

*

Prioritise culture and team development through effective communication and coaching.

*

Oversee planning and scheduling.

*

Build & Maintain good strong relationships across all internal functions and external customers.

*

Coach, mentor and lead the Manufacturing team, responsible for the whole of the production, maintenance and planning, day to day and strategically review team competency to ensure appropriate training and development plans are in place to meet both individual and business needs.

*

Review organisational structure and headcount standards, ensuring appropriate succession plans, recruitment and development plans are in place.

Role Requirements:

*

Significant manufacturing experience at a senior level.

*

Ideally experience in Machining/Precision Engineering manufacturing industry or time sensitive and complex manufacturing environment.

*

Effective problem solving and critical thinking skills.

*

Experience of driving CI/Operational Excellence initiatives.

*

Experienced in change management, CI, planning and organising factory improvement.

*

Previous experience of work within a PE owned firm.
