Export Operations Manager

We have a fantastic opportunity for a Shipping Export Manager to join our esteemed Global Logistics team, based at our site in Andover.

As a shipping and logistics professional, you'll assume a central role within our Global Logistics division.

Your core responsibilities will encompass overseeing the UK, international despatch and export of goods whilst strategically coordinating our global transportation, ensuring a seamless, efficient, and cost-effective delivery system across international markets. While keeping updated in domestic and foreign customs regulations and international commerce.

We are looking for an individual who has proven experience in export operations, with a background in freight forwarding. As well as in-depth knowledge of export regulations, customs procedures, and international shipping documentation.

Responsibilities:

Ensure that import and export operations comply with all local and international trade policies and laws regarding trade, shipping and storage of inventory.

Act as the focal person for contact between relevant freight forwarders, Stannah businesses and external customers.

Leads, evaluates and negotiates formal Request for Quotation (RFQ) process for new and existing freight forwarding partners. Evaluates results using agreed weighting process.

Leads research and benchmarking activities for our customer locations UK, EU & remaining global areas.

Evaluates supplier’s financial information and manages the findings of the financial evaluation/risk assessment constructively.

Deliver cost savings through skilled negotiation & Continuous improvement activity.

Work with customers and suppliers to deliver cost reduction through network redesign and continuous improvement activities, etc.

Lead the shipping team to ensure all inputs / outputs meet necessary shipping demands

Ensure the shipping team are working to required lead times and daily targets set

Monitoring the quality of outputs being completed

Actively encourage continuous improvement activities, to identify both product and process improvements. Lead teams working on PDCA and Task Ticket improvements.

Drive actions to achieve CRM/Error targets and improvements

Requirements

Relevant vocational qualification or equivalent experience Importing and exporting processes, classifying goods, safety and security declarations, EU customs declarations, customs software & systems, import duties and certification of origin.

An in-depth knowledge of international shipping protocols and regulatory compliance.

A thorough understanding of the processes of international trade and commerce.

An extensive knowledge in the modes of transportation, location specific export regulations, and supply chain management.

Experience of working closely with freight forwarding companies, managed trade services, and customs brokers.

Uses problem-solving techniques to resolve immediate issues.

Identifies trends as they occur and proactively puts in place long-term resolutions, which prevent problems reoccurring.
