Overview:

We are currently recruiting for an experienced CAD Design Engineer to work for our client across their brand-new facility in Birmingham. This is an exciting role that will be working as part of the Product Development Team and Reporting to the COO working on developing a Hyper Rapid DC charging solution for a range of commercial Vehicles.

This is huge opportunity to be part of our clients growing team and have the opportunity to undertake the electromechanical, stress and packaging design and development of our clients charging systems. This role will be responsible for producing manufacturing designs, providing support to prototype development, testing and compliance to UK & International standards.

You will be pivotal in converting electrical schematics into engineering information to support the systems manufacture, site installation and through life service support. This role will work collaboratively within the companies product development team in the creation of the charging systems.

Key Work Activities:

Responsibilities include, using electrical AC & DC schematics to develop 2D drawings and 3D models together with assembly information whilst working alongside the  Manufacturing and Test Technicians and key suppliers supporting the assembly and validation of the first of a kind systems.
Proficient in Autodesk Inventor & AutoCAD platforms under a Vault environment, developing and utilising Material Libraries, iPart & iAssembly, BoM Structure workflow, stage build models.  
Working knowledge of simulation tools such as Ansys for thermal and mechanical stress analysis would be advantageous, strong communication and project management skills. 
Degree in mechanical engineering or a related field, membership of a Professional Engineering society is a plus.
What credential are we ideally looking for:

Impressive track record and skills acquired from working in or with an electrical network connected product supplier bringing new innovations to market.
Experience of working in a SME would be desirable, highly collaborative, able to support the execution of technology – product development roadmaps, and a keen interest in areas of low carbon energy technology and services, must be numerate with a strong analytical and problem-solving ability.
Strong presentation and communication skills, ability to excel in a rapidly developing fast paced organisation environment, able to work to project timelines with limited supervision.
Comfortable dealing with ambiguity and ability to work effectively in line with changing priorities, desire to challenge the status quo.
