CY Executive Resourcing are actively recruiting on behalf of an established public sector organisation, based in Manchester, for a Management Accountant position, on an initial 6-month fixed term contract. There is scope for the role to progress into a permanent position, beyond the 6 months. The main purpose of this management accountant post is to ensure that financial information is processed in accordance with procedures and to provide information for statutory returns. You will also be responsible for investigating financial enquiries, aiding & advising as required and to ensure that work is completed in line with financial timescales and legal requirements. The role will in involve the production of monthly financial information & reports, and it will assist in the application of contracts including PFI & calculation of the monthly PFI Unitary Payment and associated penalty deductions.

Day to day duties of the Management Accountant role will include:

* Effectively maintain the budgetary control system, to ensure that the organisaiton achieve their income and expenditure targets.

* To formulate agree and set budgets in consultation with managers and in accordance with Trust policies and strategies and to maintain controls on budget movements throughout the financial year.

* Reconcile, balance and maintain budgets each month, including the roll forward budgets, effect of pay awards and restructures, clearly identifying recurrent and non-recurrent changes in accordance with agreed timetable.

* Monitor performance against budget during the year, identify and analyse variances and / or discrepancies, reporting to the Deputy Finance & Commercial Manager and budget holders and taking appropriate action to resolve.

* Ensure that monthly reports of the budgetary position are issued to budget holders in accordance with the set deadline set to enable proactive management of budgets by the budget holder and that they are contacted personally to discuss any issues.

* To establish and maintain regular liaison with appropriate Departmental Managers, budget holders and service providers

* Hold regular meetings with budget holders to discuss financial issues and provide guidance on how issues may be resolved.

* Discuss budgetary issues in detail with Finance & Contracts Manager and provide advice / suggestions how issues may be resolved.

* Provide detailed ad hoc reports and analysis as requested by finance and non-finance colleagues.

* To assist in developing the quality of financial information and support provided by the Department and to be pro-active in the provision of financial information to managers, to explain finance departmental strategy and resolve queries.

* Provide information as required in support of the Commissioning and Costing processes.

* Ensure that all income that is due to the organisation is appropriately claimed

* Ensure that all budgetary information is accurately entered into the General Ledger system.

The client is looking to secure a candidate who is pro-active inn their approach, who is resilient towards change, and who has the confidence to hold meetings with budget holders to deliver the required information. The secured candidates needs to have significant experience of working in a Finance environment, you will have a detailed Understanding of Accounting Procedures, strong organisational skills and the ability to escalate maters outside the remit of the role, in a timely manner
