KS1 Class Teacher - Park School, Dartington Hall, Totnes, Devon

Hours: 0.6 - 0.8 FTE

Required to start 1st September 2024.

This post is a fixed term maternity cover from September 2024 to July 2025.

We are seeking to appoint an outstanding teacher to lead our Squirrels class through the next academic year. A small, mixed aged class of curious young learners need a wonderful teacher to hold their learning space and guide them forward in their teacher’s absence. A unique opportunity to gain experience working with our outstanding team at our beautiful school.

Looking to hear from qualified teachers with Key Stage One experience and a passion for creative, child-centred learning experiences.

Are you someone who easily tunes in to the needs of children? Are you playful but professional? Are you able to personalise learning and plan in the moment? Are you a great communicator with a passion for establishing kind, compassionate and productive relationships? Love the outdoors and care about our connection to nature? Inspired by child-centred, creative curriculums? Passionate about self-care, people care and planet care? Want to work in a primary education setting where children flourish?

Teaching at Park School gives you the chance to be creative in your work, to be a part of a small team of educators who are exploring ways to teach that respect children’s passion for finding out, asking questions and discovering. As educators we choose to facilitate learning rather than prescribe it; we want to make space for the children to co-create their learning with us in ways that will build on their natural curiosity about their world, develop their intellectual enquiry and critical thinking skills, learn to collaborate with one another and become intrinsically motivated to learn.

As a teacher you will bring a passion for your own learning, you will be able to form meaningful, positive and respectful relationships with the children. You will have the skills, knowledge and experience to support and guide them in their learning and development, to be able to identify when they are making great progress and to help them in the areas that they might need support. You will be excited to explore different approaches to teaching that do not rely on prescribed curriculum outcomes and formal testing.

Working at Park School is an opportunity to experience something of what education should be like. As a human-scale school, our education and community is based on the values of democracy, justice, respect and sustainability. You will be part of a small, committed team of educators and a community that shares a strong vision for education.
