Head of Operations - Manufacturing

Our FMCG Manufacturing client seeks an experienced Head of Operations for their fast-growing family business.

As a family business with strong values they are looking for a dynamic leader to join their team. This role would suit a manufacturing professional who has progressed through the ranks to operational level, continuing to take a hands-on approach.

As Head of Operations, you will oversee the manufacturing of bottled products, setting KPIs and the demand planning of goods, ensuring LEAN manufacturing processes are implemented and adhered to. You will also oversee the bonded warehouse, ensuring HMRC requirements are upheld.

You will be customer facing, handling escalations, and responsible for cash-flow against business needs, working closely with all company department to achieve efficiencies through seamless processes and procedures.

Key Responsibilities/Accountabilities:

· Manage the workforce to meet production outputs – this is a hands on role and is shop floor based.

· Maintains quality standards to ensure BRC accreditation is maintained.

· Manage equipment and ensure maintenance plan is in place and followed.

· Monitor and control the costs and production process.

· Ensure LEAN manufacturing practices are being used

· Lead the Health and safety agenda and ensure health & safety compliance

· Compliance to external accreditations bodies

· Administrative tools & demand planning

· Identify ways to improve the outputs and efficiencies

· Manage the warehouse for just in time production

· Manage the bonded warehouse

You will be key decision maker for:

· LEAN Management principles

· Manufacturing KPI’s

· Health & Safety

· Quality and legal requirements (HMRC)

Qualifications/Memberships

· Educated to A-level

· LEAN Black Belt and/or a Degree or Diploma in Manufacturing is desirable.

Experience

· Minimum of 5 years management experience in manufacturing, specifically in FMCG

· Experience in budget responsibilities

· Experience in managing financial, performance management, and reporting systems and procedures

· Proven team management experience, with a track record of coaching and developing staff to meet goals

· Black Belt in Lean management principles

· Engineering background in bottling/filling manufacturing business

· Experience in the soft drinks industry and/or with contract fillers would be beneficial.

Knowledge/Skills

· Highly numerate and articulate

· Strong management skills

· Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal

· Methodical, logical, and detail-oriented approach

· Highly analytical, evaluating and interpreting data

· Quality control expertise, particularly in food quality

· Proficiency with IT systems - a knowledge of SAP would be an advantage

· Ability to multitask and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment

· Experienced in managing customer interactions and effectively resolving disputes.
