The Role

Our tenants have made it clear what they expect from a high-quality responsive repairs service: timely repairs, done right the first time, and delivered with professionalism and a personal touch. To meet these expectations, we are seeking a strategic and driven leader to join us as our new Head of Repairs Quality, a pivotal role within our Repairs and Maintenance function. This is a unique opportunity for a visionary leader with an unwavering focus on delivering exceptional repair services, that ensure our properties remain places our tenants are proud to call home.

As the Head of Repairs Quality, you will oversee the delivery of specialised quality and assurance programs, including pre and post-work inspections and management of high-risk cases. Your leadership will enable the effective management, diagnosis, execution, and detailed reporting of all repairs quality across our housing portfolio. With a steadfast commitment to tenant satisfaction, you will collaborate with senior colleagues across our organisation to ensure a first-class responsive repairs service, continually seeking to enhance and refine our operations.

Responsibilities will include, but aren't limited to:

* Managing and motivating a team of highly skilled surveyors, ensuring any specifications of work produced are detailed and accurate, and that post inspection assurance plans are effective.

* Setting and monitoring the teams KPIs and ensure work is completed to a high-standard and in a time effective manner, driving a highly sought after, sector leading in-house program in line with Midland Heart’s policies and procedures.

* Ensuring the effective management and detailed quality assurance reporting of all Special Repairs.

* Supporting the Director of Repairs & Maintenance in ensuring an efficient service as well as with the procurement and management of specialist contractors.

* Providing expert survey and inspection advice to both the Property Investment and Repairs and Maintenance teams.

The working arrangement? Our colleagues deliver services from the location that they are best delivered on any given day. This means that you should expect to work from a Midland Heart site as a minimum 3 days week (on average).

Our ideal candidate? You'll hold a chartered membership of RICS or CIOB and will ideally hold a relevant qualification in a surveying or building related discipline. You’ll also have an excellent understanding of CDM regulations as well as significant previous experience undertaking surveys and producing detailed, expert reports. You'll also have experience of inspecting properties and a good understanding of defects falling under relevant legislation such as, but not limited to, Landlord and Tenant Act 1985, the Environmental Protection Act 1990, and the Homes (Fitness for Human Habitation) Act 2018. Importantly, you’ll be a seasoned leader of people, with a proven record of engaging and managing teams; holding you own and other team to high standards and driving strong performance through others.

Who are Midland Heart? We’re a large and ambitious housing organisation providing more people an affordable place to call home. We welcome people from every walk of life, at every stage of their career. We expect a lot from our people but in return, you can be assured of a great place to work, where you’ll be well rewarded and where great people are able to succeed. Whether you want to build your career with us, or use your experience to move on, we’re here to develop your potential.
