Key responsibilities include:

* Negotiation of contracts for key raw materials, to an annual value of £2.5m

* Sourcing of new food ingredients and liaison with the quality and technical departments to ensure the supplier approval process is completed

* Managing the purchase of other materials used on site, such as packaging, where the spend is significant and bench marking may be required to source alternative or secondary suppliers

* Ensure the correct stock of raw materials is maintained to ensure supply at all times to our manufacturing plant, therefore liaising with the sales team to understand customer demand, suppliers to understand the supply chain implications and the Head of Production to understand warehousing constraints

* Understand our haulier requirements to benchmark pricing and service and develop relationships to ensure performance is monitored and fed back to them

* Sourcing of new hauliers, including for international deliveries, meeting our operational standards and those of our customers

The successful applicant will have:

* Have experience in negotiating contracts

* Be committed to developing strong supplier relationships

* Follow the company requirement for documenting visits and calls and update the Company ERP system

* Have a keen eye for detail - required for reading purchasing contracts and constructing call reports

* Be well presented, polite and professional

* Experience of a food environment

* Excellent written English skills with good attention to detail and the ability to generate technical reports

* The ability to use Microsoft Office programmes, with a key focus on the use of Microsoft Excel and formula generating as well as Microsoft Word
