Arla Foods are looking for a Factory Shift Leader to join the Operations team at our Oswestry Cheese Packaging Facility in Shropshire.

What will the role involve?

As a Factory Shift Leader, you will play a crucial role in overseeing the daily operations of our manufacturing facility. You will be responsible for leading and coordinating a team of production operators, ensuring that production targets are met, and maintaining a safe and efficient working environment.

Your strong leadership skills, attention to detail and ability to make effective decisions will contribute to the success of our operations.

Key responsibilities include;

* Lead and supervise a team on site, ensuring adherence to company policies, procedures and safety guidelines.

* Plan and organize shift schedules, ensuring adequate staffing levels to meet production demands.

* Monitor site processes and equipment, adjusting as necessary to optimize efficiency and minimize downtime.

* Conduct regular quality walks to ensure products meet specified standards and take corrective actions when deviations occur.

* Train and develop team members, providing guidance and support to enhance their skills and performance.

* Collaborate with other departments, such as maintenance and quality assurance, to resolve issues and improve processes.

* Maintain accurate production records, including production output, downtime, and quality data.

* Foster a positive and inclusive work environment, promoting teamwork and open communication.

* Identity opportunities for process improvements and cost reductions, and implement appropriate solutions.

* Comply with all health, safety, and environmental regulations, promoting a culture of safety among team members.

What you’ll need in order to be successful in the role

The ideal candidate will have:

Previous experience within a similar manufacturing environment

People management/leadership experience

Knowledge of lean principles (six sigma qualification would be preferred but is not essential)

Educated to a GCSE standard or equivalent

High levels of enthusiasm and a positive attitude to change and problem solving

Our Oswestry site is a best in class cheese packaging facility that cover 8 acres of land and package 350 different types of products.

We send cheese out to Europe, North America, Africa & Asia.

Supplying branded products like Castello, BOB and Arla Pro, along with private label to Waitrose, M&S, Asda & Aldi.

If we lined up, side-by-side, all the 20kg blocks of cheese our Oswestry site process each year, we could plot the entire UK coastline.
