My client in Lichfield is looking for a Design Manager due to expansion.
They are looking to recruit a Design Manager for a leading foundry equipment manufacturer based in South, Staffordshire. This is a fantastic opportunity for candidates who have AutoCAD and Inventor skills.
Details: Located in Staffordshire they design & manufacture into a very niche market for foundry equipment with 90 % of their machines exported. With a current workforce of 12 employees, this opportunity is due to retirement and to an increase in market demand, the opportunity to develop new and existing products. This position is ideal If you have a strong design engineering background with experience of using AutoCAD, Inventor & vault.Training can be given in Inventor if the candidate currently uses an alternative 3D software.
Description: As the design manager you will be responsible for updating existing machine designs working on new product ranges, ensuring that the equipment meets al relevant standards along with supporting production and liaising with internal sales and customers.
They are looking for a design manager for their small team and are looking at candidates established with extensive Industry and Design knowledge. You will take ownership of Design Projects from start to finish.
You will be responsible for:
* Management of all design activities from concept through to production validation.
* The robust design of products n accordance with the department procedures
* Investigating design factors such as function materials, performance, interchangeability, cost, operational efficiency.
* Preparation of Project Engineering data for new product assemblies and components, e.g. 3D / 2D Drawings, BOM's, Technical Specifications
* Customer technical liaison on new projects, ensuring that the designs meet the customer's requirements and often exceed their expectations and remain competitive to achieve sales growth and increase market share.
Requirements
* Qualified to HND/Degree level in an engineering discipline, ideally Mechanical or Product Design.
* You must possess a sound knowledge of Heavy-duty mechanical engineering principles and product design processes.
* It is preferable that you have at least 10 years experience of working within a heavy-duty manufacturing environment.
* The successful candidate will also need to demonstrate that they have experience working within a senior role at their current or previous employment.
* Experience with machinery automation, hydraulics and pneumatics would be advantageous.
Notes for the Suitable Candidate:
* Working hours Monday – Thursday 8.45am – 5.00pm Friday’s (phone number removed)pm. We have a 1/2 hour unpaid lunch break. Or 8.00am – 4.00pmMonday – Friday.
* The candidate will be required to perform customer site visits and this will require working abroad. On average it is usually at most only two weeks throughout the year The candidate will be supported fully by the company when such ste visits are requir ed.
* Holidays 22 plus statutory days. We have a Christmas shutdown and 3 days need to be saved from the annual holiday of 22 days.
* There will be a probationary period of three months
* They auto enrol staff with the people’s pension scheme after 3 months.
* After the probationary period, the candidate will have the option of joining the company’s private health insurance scheme.
* After the probationary period the candidate will have the option of working 1 day a week from home.
* They offer twice yearly bonuses to all staff This will be dependent on company and employee performances .
* We offer sick pay – 5 days in any 12-month period between the 1st January and 31st December after one years’ service.
* Additional training will be offered to the candidate to aid further progression within the organisation. This will be fully funded by the company.
* We offer free onsite parking.
