Payroll Officer
Working hours: 20 hours
As a Payroll Officer, you will be required to:
Process payroll data on a weekly (UK and Ireland) and monthly (UK and Ireland) basis in time with statutory and company requirements including attachments of earnings
Administer the SSP, SMP and SPP schemes
* Process 3rd party payments through payroll including court orders and student loans
* Work with Finance team to ensure all journals posted correctly and any payroll reconciliations completed
* Provide advice to staff and managers in relation to pay, taxation and NI
* Assist with the completion of request forms from HMRC/DWPS/Job Centre Plus etc.
* Liaise with external parties including HMRC, Courts, Student Loan companies etc.
* Support administration of pension systems and payments
* Complete weekly / monthly reports for different areas of the business and National Statistics
* Ensure all Year End processes completed in a timely manner
* Continually strive to improve the efficiencies of payroll operations and work processes
* Manage Benefit In Kind process for both UK and Ireland
* Manage Holiday Purchase Scheme
* Take the lead for any audits eg HMRC & ROS
* Assist with annual pay reviews and bonus procedure
* Compliance to company policies and group management systems
* To assist with the introduction and launch of new HR/Payroll/T&A System
* Other duties as appropriate to the role
Experience:
Essential
* Minimum of 2 years' experience of completing full UK payroll process
* Payrolling Benefits (BIK)
Desirable
* Knowledge of Irish Payroll and associated Laws
* Knowledge of NEST / Royal London
Requirements of the Payroll Administrator
* Flexible and positive attitude
* Highly accurate and methodical way of working
* Excellent communication skills both verbally and in writing
* Proficiency in Microsoft Excel including Vlookup and pivot tables
* Ability to work under pressure to tight deadlines to achieve objectives.
* Ability to use initiative to identify possible improvements and work together to define and implement solutions.
* Keen to learn new tasks and processes as the business require
