Are you an experienced caretaker/maintenance worker and would like a pivotal role in your local community? Do you have experience of being a keyholder and relish the responsibility and challenge this can bring? We require a maintenance on behalf of our SEN school in the Wolverhampton area.

To pro-actively assist in managing the site, including the security, fixtures & fittings, and all other equipment, to ensure a well presented and safe physical environment for all site users, and to promote the efficient use of the school's assets.

As this role will require you to sometimes travel across sites, you must hold a full UK driving licence. The position is full time and requires you to work 37.5 hours per week.

MAIN DUTIES

Undertake the open and lock up and maintain security procedures
Act as a key holder and deal with minor security/safety issues
Monitor standards of cleaning, undertake cleaning and supervision of cleaners
Prepare the school site, premises, rooms and work areas; this includes operation of the school heating and lighting
Porterage duties as required and particularly the laying out of furniture and other equipment for timetabled activities without direct instruction.
Undertake maintenance duties to the level of a competent handyman.
Report major items for repair to the Maintenance Manager.
Interact with staff, parents, pupils and visitors in a helpful and sensitive manner, showing a customer serviced focus at all times.
Sign in, show relevant policies/procedures and supervise contractors.
Sign and secure deliveries.
Monitor stock levels and inform Maintenance Manager of requirements.
Have knowledge and awareness of health and safety practices and policies, have an understanding of COSHH regulations, maintain records where required. To always work safely.
Be willing to undertake training relevant to the role
In conjunction with the Maintenance Manager and other relevant SLT members, to attend meetings and assist in preparing schedules of planned and reactive maintenance works.
