Situation
Our client is a leading supply chain and logistics partner to rail industries across the world. 

The role of the Category Manager is to lead on the procurement aspects of this value stream. focusing heavily on rationalising the existing supply base and working with new suppliers that could be added to that portfolio

Responsibilities will include:

To leverage competitive advantage and best in class performance from a defined portfolio of strategic suppliers.
Develop and deliver procurement strategies for a defined category of spend, covering direct and/or indirect materials, components, assemblies and services, largely focused on a Consumables and Fasteners portfolio.
Responsible for the contracting arrangement with suppliers as well as developing supplier relationships and managing their performance.
Spread Of Skills & Analysis Required
Ability to compile, analyse, interpret and present information to senior stakeholders.
Skilled communicator with excellent stakeholder management and effective influencing skills at all levels.
Strong data analytical and problem solving skills.
Effective time management and prioritisation skills.
Strategic thinker with ability to convert to tactical deployment plans.
Good track record of supporting a team culture and cross functional working.
Ability to work independently.
The position is critical is pivotal to the category team & the development of the supply chain focus of consumables & fasteners.

Location: Doncaster

Salary:  £47,000 + £307.00 per month car allowance

Working Practices: Hybrid role (2 days in the Doncaster), 3 days either working from home or on the road visiting suppliers

Agreed Criteria for candidates to secure interview

Level 5 CIPS qualified, if not, extensive experience within a Category Manager role.  
Background in working in consumable or fasteners engineering industry.
Tendering/Contracting experience.
Confident, presenter who will utilise their data for strategic decision making.
Experienced in supplier relationship management.
