We are currently working on behalf of a specialist care organisation who are looking for a Positive Behaviour Support Lead to make a difference in their service in Chertsey, Surrey and the surrounding areas. The services specialise in supporting people with learning disabilities and complex needs, so experience within this client group would be highly desirable. Requirements of a Positive Behaviour Support Lead:

* Experience providing personal care to individuals in a way that respects the dignity of the individual and promotes independence.

* The ability to help in the care of the services users’ physical environment and in the general day to day activities of the home.

* Assisting individuals who need help with dressing, undressing, bathing, and using the toilet.

* Care for individuals who are sick and needing, for example, minor dressings and bed nursing.

* Assisting in inductions of new staff.

* Key working allocated individuals.

* Helping in the promotion of mental and physical activity of individuals through talking with them, taking them out, sharing in activities such as reading, writing, hobbies and recreations.

* Reading and writing reports, taking part in staff and service users’ meetings and in training activities as required by the Registered Manager and fulfilling the criteria set by the National Care Standards Act 2000.

* Maintaining the code of confidentiality.

* Abiding by the rules governing the safety and handling of drugs.

* Becoming familiar with the Fire Safety Regulations and participating in regular fire training of two sessions per annum.

* Reporting and recording any accident which may occur.

* Assisting Commission for Social Care Inspectors during visits of inspection.

* To undertake assessments, including supporting the subsidiary Partner with functional assessments, as well as developing and implementing guidelines on supporting people who display behaviours that challenge.

* To be a visible and supportive presence within services, to coach, train and role model best practice.

* To collect data relating to behaviours that challenge in order to develop understanding and personalised interventions.

* To be responsive to service crisis and pro-active in supporting and coaching change.

* Experience of person-centred support, planning and developing PBS interventions.

* Experience of leading and managing a team; providing practice leadership.

* A level 5 qualification in Positive Behaviour Support is desirable but not essential.

* Experience in supporting individuals who are at risk of displaying challenging behaviour.

* £1200 Car Allowance + 40p per mile
