Due to elevated growth we now seek an experienced ocean import operator to join our dedicated team in Leeds.
Candidates must have a minimum of 3 years freight forwarding experience and currently working in import operations for sea freight

Ocean Import Account Manager Role:
Main point of contact for allocated clients ensuring their business needs are met on a day to day basis, providing a full import service via sea and air freight, to them and other customers and agents, whilst working as a team member within the import department and office.

Duties & Responsibilities:
Develop and maintain strong, professional relationships with allocated clients and suppliers to grow new and existing business.
Work closely with colleagues as part of a dynamic team to ensure all aspects of work within the department is covered professionally and efficiently.
Share relevant information with colleagues and assist with training of new members of staff.
Receive bookings from overseas office, or directly from UK party. Arrange best routing with customer/airline/agent/shipping line/haulier and confirm booking. Accurately update import computer systems and make up job file, showing rates agreed.
Monitor the shipment throughout, liaising with all parties, keeping your customer updated, ensuring instructions (and changes) are confirmed in writing to all. Any serious/potentially serious issues with a shipment must be bought to the attention of GM/Directors at the earliest opportunity.
Prepare and clear customs entry, notify customer of Duty and Vat payable. Ensure original bills and Vat/duty payment is received prior to delivery, in accordance with laid down procedure.
Prepare and send invoices, check and authorise purchase invoices for payment.
Negotiate with suppliers to ensure we receive the best prices available. Prepare and send rates to customers under supervision of GM/Directors.
Be alert to any sales opportunities and develop under guidance of GM/Directors.
Exercise proper file management to ensure easily retrievable files/documents.
