Our client is a leader in environmental services looking to help industrial and chemical companies with their waste (recycling of raw material solvents) to protect the people and the environment.
Our client is looking for a SHEQ Manager to advise, guide and manage their North East site and functions on all aspects of health, safety, environmental and quality issues.

SHEQ Manager Responsibilities:

* Process Safety: oversee and control hazard identification and risk assessment programme (HazID, HazOp, LOPA, SIL); implement risk reduction measures; assist in assessing new enquiries for SHEQ suitability; liaise with authorities, regulatory and other bodies to ensure legal compliance; maintain compliance with the Safety Report and emergency plans; maintain site incident command structures; maintain off-site communications with neighbours in the Public Information Zone.

* Personal Safety: Ensure SHEQ requirements are effectively communicated through site inductions and manage SHEQ competency programmes; Ensure effective control of contractors; ensure suitable risk assessments; ensure compliance with relevant H&S legislation; conduct accident investigations.

* Health: Oversee the Chemical Exposure Monitoring Programmes (COSHH) and the Occupational Health Surveillance Programmes; monitor and control noise & vibration exposure; control legionella and asbestos control registers as relevant; ensure compliance with relevant other H&S legislation.

* Environment: maintain and ensure ongoing compliance with Environmental Permits and other relevant environmental legislation and to liaise with regulators; control and oversee the site’s environmental monitoring programmes; oversee the site energy management programmes and ensure compliance with climate change levy and other relevant programmes and targets; conduct investigations into incidents and complaints.

* Quality: Oversee the site quality control programme; Host Duty of Care Visits with Customers and conduct Duty of Care audits of suppliers; Progress the investigation and resolution of customer complaints.

* Management Systems: maintain an effective and efficient management system compliant with PAS99, ISO9001, ISO14001 and BS18001; liaise with the accrediting body in audits, to oversee and implement the site’s internal audit programme, including conducting audits at other sites; periodically review all aspects of the systems and recommend changes to maintain the relevance of procedures and documents; oversee and assist in SHEQ training and competency programmes; oversee and assist in SHEQ CI programmes.

SHEQ Manager Candidate Profile:

* Knowledge of HSE legislation, Guidance and Standards, Quality, H&S and Environment Management Systems.

* Positive “can-do” attitude.

* Time management, project management, technical safety and environmental specialisms skills desirable.

In return, our client is offering a salary range of £44,000 - £54,000 + 25 days holiday, Pension, 10% annual bonus based on company’s and personal objectives and PMI for this SHEQ Manager position.
