Principal Web Developer (Next.js, Node.js, AWS), Oxford Innovation Centre
*Oxford or Reading only please (or equidistant)*

Hybrid in Oxford

My style of adverts has had to change dramatically over the last 2 years because the market has shifted so much. The post-covid boom is no longer with us, and average to good often does not cut it, especially in a scale-up environment. I feel harsh, listing demands, but I would rather not waste your time and energy going through a process with me if you are not suitable.

I am looking for someone with future leadership potential, a successor for an interim CTO who has built a strong squad from the ground up. The successful candidate will be a massive advocate for Next.js, Node.js (nest) and AWS infrastructure, but will still be fully hands-on as a coder. Dare I say, front-end focused, without having an influx of 100 applications from FE Devs, all the way from junior to senior, who are fabulous at front-end but can’t spin a server together. That won’t work here, but I do hire front-end roles and love hiring front-end roles. Let’s connect on linked in and speak in the near future.

What is on offer, Mike?

I am partnering with an exciting Oxford University spinoff, who are developing a digital platform to revolutionise the healthcare industry.
- Exciting mobile-first and modern web development environment.
- Proper tech – next.js, nest.js, typescript, AWS.
- Future leadership potential, we are looking for a successor to run a small to medium- sized dev team that is scaling and have just had their product clinically defined as a Class 1 Medical Device.

- Up to £120k base, dependant on *current remuneration* - getting a 10k raise with no demonstrable experience, just on hearsay, will not happen here.

- Work for a well-funded “code for good” / “tech for good” scale-up, to build an incredible product in the healthcare domain.

What skills would be ideal, Mike?
Brilliant front-end web development skills (Next.js, React, TypeScript).
Fully hands-on 100% coder who can self-manage.
Leadership skills are very useful but won’t be utilised immediately.
Interested in UX and Usability testing.
Strives to build an awesome product in the true sense of the word awesome.
React Native for mobile (mobile-first, expo and react-native-web or similar).

- Next.js, TypeScript and Node.js for web, hosted on AWS. I did list that twice, yes 👌
