Our Client is a West Midlands based successful and well established designer and manufacturer of engineered products, supplying the UK Market with a wide and diverse variety of products, from simple components, to assemblies.
The company thrives on finding new and innovative products to supply to market, and are happy to invest into new equipment to deliver growth.

JOB PURPOSE / OBJECTIVES

* Ensure that strategic material planning processes are in place to enable operational and production continuity

* Takes a co-ordinating lead, working closely with internal parties to ensure supply of materials is in place to satisfy production requirements

* Deliver efficient, effective and flexible solutions to meet production requirements.

* Ensure customers receive on time in full deliveries.

* Purchasing of all consumables

JOB RESPONSIBIITIES AND MAJOR ACTIVITIES / TASKS

* Ensure that material scheduling strategy and processes are in place and work effectively in order to endure

* Take ownership of material and production planning issues that arise, including over and under delivery and take any follow up actions especially in the event of material shortages that effect production.

* Assess volume requirements against planning assumptions

* Manage inventory risk and ensure contingency plans are in place

* Seek and recommend solutions to overcome issues arising in order to meet production requirements and address operational risks.

* Support continuous improvement initiatives

* Ensure the integrity of Bill of Materials and inventory accuracy at all times and manage and control inventory levels and movements.

* Take overall responsibility for obsolete parts process and ensure business is left with minimum liability and minimal waste.

* Oversee labelling processes to ensure correct parts/ finished assemblies reach correct customers at the correct time.

* Investigate and implement enhancement initiatives.

* Report on achievement of targets and identify any corrective action needed.

* Develop an understanding of customers’ needs and take actions to ensure that such needs are met.

* Maintain and develop business relationships with a customer’s key personnel involved in, or directly relevant to, a logistics activity.

* Ensure that customer orders / schedule information is being maintained correctly using MRP Software.

* Provide regular, timely, proactive feedback to customers by e-mail, phone and meetings on deliveries, production and quality related issues ensuring that all correspondence is dealt with in a timely, courteous manner.

* Ensure strategic and operational information, reports and metrics are available to share and with others in the business as and when required.

* Report on achievements of targets and identify any corrective action.

EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS

* Experience with MRP systems and planning processes in an automotive manufacturing environment

* Have an understanding of ISO 14001 and IATF 16949 and their contribution to the business to help to achieve objectives and ensure compliance.

* Knowledge of Health and Safety Legislation
