Our Client is a privately-owned Bermuda-based holding company, which, through its wholly-owned subsidiaries in London, Bermuda and Dublin is a global provider of specialty insurance and reinsurance products. They are rated A- (Excellent) by A.M. Best Company, Inc.

The Company currently writes lines of business including: specialty insurance: aviation & aerospace, energy, marine, property, credit & political risk, and other specialty; reinsurance: property reinsurance, property retrocession, specialty reinsurance, whole account / multi-class

A growing London Marker insurer / reinsurer who are going through a significant expansion have an exciting opportunity for a Risk Analyst in Bermuda.

The Risk Analyst will provide support to the Actuarial team, be responsible for assisting the Portfolio Analysts with the reinsurance deal pricing process, assist with accumulation reporting and portfolio roll up, and complete ad hoc projects as required.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Provide data analytics and price catastrophe reinsurance loss contracts using a combination of cat modelling results and cedant historical experience
Identify areas where models can over/understate risk and make appropriate adjustments
Explain cat modelling concepts and results to underwriters to inform decision making
Evaluate cedant exposure data and highlight inconsistencies in exposure information
Assist with the composition of retro submission packs under the direction of underwriters
Work with underwriters and IT to ensure that analysis and reporting methodologies are constantly evolving and adapting to new technologies and market conditions

Essential Skills and Qualifications

University degree, preferably in Mathematics, Science or Economics
Strong academic background and mathematical acumen
3 - 5 years' experience running catastrophe models and pricing risks
Knowledge of modelling techniques across multiple lines of business including Property Treaty, Specialty and Terrorism
Strong Excel skills including VBA; SQL knowledge
High attention to detail and ability to multi-task and prioritise own work against needs of business
Must be a strong critical thinker who can interrogate the data to ensure it makes sense and provide challenge when required
Must be able to self-lead and work effectively both independently and with teams
Demonstrated ability to deliver accurate and thoughtful work within tight deadlines and/or while working extended hours

Desirable Skills and Qualifications

Experience of DFA models like Remetrica, Metarisk and Igloo
Strong knowledge of AIR models and software including AIR Touchstone and Touchstone Re
Research interests in climatological, meteorological or seismic sciences
Understanding of return on equity calculations and portfolio optimization considerations
