We are currently recruiting for a Case Conference Officer to work for Gwent Police out of Newport Civic Centre.

This is a temporary role working Monday to Friday 37 hours a week and will be hybrid working.

PLEASE NOTE DUE TO POLICE VETTING CRITERIA YOU MUST HAVE RESIDED CONTINUOUSLY WITHIN THE UK FOR A MINIMUM OF 5 YEARS AT THE TIME OF APPLICATION

PURPOSE OF THE ROLE - To prepare for and represent the Police at Case Conferences in a Multi-Agency Forum, ensuring the welfare of children is paramount by influencing decisions made regarding children being made subject of a child protection plan, then completing all administration needs and database functions

PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES

Undertake comprehensive checks on all Police databases to gather information or intelligence held relating to the family and relevant addresses to ensure that an informed decision can be made at Child Protection Case Conferences
Ensure accurate and up-to-date records are continually maintained to ensure that all relevant information is recorded and available regarding the safety of children
Liaise with relevant personnel and Officers involved with Case conference subjects
Co-ordinate all information and intelligence gathered in order to present to the Case conference to aid decisions made in the best interests of the child
Attend each case conference in a multi-agency forum as a Police representative and actively engage in the decision making process
Following a Child Protection Case Conference, update Police systems with outcomes and actions decided by the panelKNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES

Must be able to successfully pass training required for the role. This will be in the form of a bespoke training package designed for the role.
Experience of working within a confidential environment.
Experience of compiling data into report format accurately and concisely by researching IT systems and other means as appropriate and display good analytical skills
Must have experience of planning and organising own workloads in a busy pressurised environment.
To be able to demonstrate by example the ability to use initiative particular in problem solving.
Must have a good understanding of Child Protection Procedures including an awareness of the All Wales Child Protection Procedures.
Must have knowledge of the National Decision Making Model.
Must have knowledge of Partner Agencies and the role they play in protecting vulnerable children.
Must be IT literate and have a good working practical knowledge of Microsoft Office packages use of databases.
Level 1 Welsh essential (training will be given). Welsh language skills Level 2 and above are desirable.
