Hours / Shift Pattern: Seven days a week on a five-day shift rota basis. E.g. Five days on and two days off, which could include weekdays like working Thursday through Monday with Tuesday and Wednesday off. 12 Hour shifts.

Overview

Everest People Solutions are recruiting for an experienced Mechanically biased Engineer for large animal by product rendering plant The purpose of the Mechanical Engineer is to ensure production line efficiency by providing proactive and reactive engineering solutions. This role also involves upholding health and safety standards, monitoring machinery, rectifying defects, and supporting operational tasks.

Key Duties & Responsibilities for the Mechanical Engineer

* Collaborate with production shift supervisors and managers to identify potential issues and minimise downtime.

* Assist in investigating methods to improve plant productivity.

* Coordinate with the Engineering Administrator to ensure sufficient stocks of spare parts are available.

* Follow preventative maintenance (PPM) and lubrication schedules.

* Work with production shift supervisors and managers to schedule necessary works, gain permission to proceed, and ensure all required permits are in place before starting.

* Provide advice and support to external contractors during installation works as needed.

* Ensure the health and safety of the work environment by adhering to site safety standards and leaving work areas clean, tidy, and safe after completing tasks.

* Monitor all machinery and ancillary plant during production, completing relevant paperwork.

* Address any defects, following processes to satisfactory conclusions

* Attend any required meetings and courses as directed by the business.

Requirements for the Mechanical Engineer

* Proven experience in a Mechanical Engineering role within a rendering, processing or heavy manufacturing environment.

* Capable of working collaboratively within a team.

* Capable of making well-considered decisions under pressure and effectively communicating these decisions to relevant colleagues to ensure smooth operations.

* Certification in Six Sigma and Lean Manufacturing methodologies, with a focus on continuous improvement.

* Higher qualification in IOSH or NEBOSH for health and safety standards.

* Proficiency in problem-solving techniques, including 8D methodology.

* Proficiency in creating and analysing Value Stream Maps (VSM).

* Experience with Risk Assessment and Method Statements (RAMs).

* Experience with Control of Substances Hazardous to Health (COSHH) regulations.

* Experience with Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) procedures.

* Skilled in fault-finding techniques such as half split, input/output, and the 6 Point Technique.

* NVQ Level 3 qualification in Engineering.

* Experience with calibration processes and procedures.

* Detail-oriented with a keen eye for identifying potential issues and escalating them appropriately to prevent disruptions.

* Excellent communication skills, enabling you to convey technical information and instructions clearly to team members and other stakeholders.

* Proficiency in English, both spoken and written, ensuring clear and effective communication
