Fairhive is a non-profit affordable housing provider with ambition. We already provide affordable housing to more than 20,000 people in our community but we want to do more. That’s why we are striving to provide 1,000 additional homes by 2025.

Our trades team play a vital role in the provision of our services from repairing and maintaining existing housing stock to managing environmental improvements to provide more families in our community with a home.

About the role

We are looking for an experienced Groundworker to join our team and to help us achieve our social mission.

On the Job you will:

Attend the housing stock and liaise with tenants to identify and diagnose groundwork and fencing defects.

Determine the most cost effective and expedient solution.

Carry out repair/renewal as necessary.

Undertake both responsive and planned maintenance of groundwork, fencing and clearance services to properties owned or managed by the Fairhive.

Execute workmanship to a high standard and ensure it is carried out in strict compliance with the Health and Safety at Work Act, and any other relevant legislation covering safety in the workplace for self and others.

About You

We’re looking for someone who understands how important it is to have a safe place we can call home and who is motivated to support the local community.

For this role you will need:

Good level of physical fitness, including the ability to lift, work at heights and in differing conditions

Hold City & Guilds Part III /NVQ level 3 in General Construction or other equivalent qualification

Have other building works related skills such as carpentry, brick laying and plumbing skills

Hold a valid Driving Licence

Have an excellent awareness of current Health and Safety regulations backed up by evidence of relevant training, and the ability to work in a safe manner

You will ideally have skills and attributes that include:

Have good verbal and written skills including having the ability to liaise with our customers 

Have the ability to plan and organize repairs and maintenance works /projects

Be able to work as part of a team
