Job Purpose:

Reporting to the Head of Engineering, the Senior Systems Engineer will initially be the site engineer with this position being based solely at Sizewell, but in time this will evolve into being part of a team consisting of System & Service Engineers.

The Senior Systems Engineer is responsible for:

* Systems, infrastructure and user device remedial maintenance - responding to customer reported incidents which are escalated from the customer, within an SLA framework, ensuring all incidents are resolved or services restored within SLA

* Preventative Maintenance – completing system and infrastructure service visits to a planned schedule including conformance to specifications equipment audits/triage, cosmetic repairs & equipment programming

* Minor Works - ensuring customers requests (Moves, Adds, Changes or Terminations) are delivered within expected timeframes

* Vehicle Installations – Installation of communication equipment into motorized & non- motorised vehicles

* Radio signal strength coverage testing

* Project delivery – Assist or deliver Project Engineering tasks as required to agreed timescale and standards

* Works with key customers or contractors to deliver radio service across the site and be part of a growing solution as the site evolves

The technology scope is predominantly Radio and IP based, but also split between fibre and cellular based equipment with additional service scope including; Unified Comms, Network, Wireless and M2M related technologies that; form part of shared platforms or dedicated solutions for customers. This role will ensure that multi-technology solutions are delivered and supported seamlessly for our customers.

Key Responsibilities

* Work individually, then as part of a team covering all radio engineering activities at Sizewell

* Understand that at times the delivery of some engineering services are required out of hours, so there is the need to be flexible in the working hours required to ensure efficient delivery

* Ensure that the overall performance of service delivery meets customer service level requirements & service performance targets

* Ensure all service tickets raised on company's ticketing system are attended and completed in a timely manner against our SLAs

* To deliver projects as requested. This includes the installation of vehicle radios and all Moves Additions and Changes (MAC) such as delivery and training on radio equipment

* To complete preventative maintenance visits as requested. This is to include the programming and refurbishment of company assets at customer sites to a satisfactory standards and customer requirement

* Ensure all functions within service operate in compliance with all SHEQ (Safety, Health, Environmental and Quality) & legal requirements and stipulations

* Ensuring all service delivery documentation is updated in a timely manner and to the utmost quality

* Be part of a constant learning and development culture in a fast-changing technical environment focusing on systems and infrastructure

* Ensure all service tickets raised on company's ticketing system (Salesforce Service Cloud) are attended and completed in a timely manner against our SLA’s

* To complete systems and infrastructure preventative maintenance visits as requested

Key Qualifications and Experience

* Excellent solid technical background with strong theoretical and practical experience

* Experienced Radio and Infrastructure engineer, having sound knowledge of Unified Comms and/or Network and I.T. Strong industry knowledge

* Strong experience in working on DMR Tier 2 and Tier 3 radio systems, particularly infrastructure focussed, but excellent knowledge of end user devices with common main manufacturer equipment from: Motorola / Hytera / TAIT / Simoco / Sepura / Kenwood / PBE (Axell Wireless). This is mandatory for one supplier at least. Motorola products would be a clear advantage

* Experience in programming radio templates – Motorola / Hytera / TAIT / Simoco / Sepura / Kenwood. This is mandatory for one supplier at least. Motorola products would be a clear advantage

* In depth understanding of designing and commissioning PBE/Axell equipment used in a range of RF technologies including TETRA, DMR, Analogue, VHF and Cellular. Deployment of off-air repeaters and RF over fibre systems would be an advantage

* Preventative maintenance and fault activities on DAS systems such as PIM testing, distance to fault measurements and replacing/testing all types of RF cable and connectors e.g. Cellflex, Radiflex 7/16 and n type connectors

* Experience in database management & networking topologies & DMR/PMR software applications would be an advantage

* Knowledge of GSM, fixed line comms and microwave solutions would be an advantage

* Knowledge of TCP/IP stack would be an advantage

* Cellular / Wi-Fi knowledge would be an advantage

* Knowledge of Wi-Fi installation and maintenance would be advantageous
