About the role

Balfour Beatty has an exciting opportunity for a Marketing Communications Manager to join our Enabling Functions team to work in London (Canary Wharf).

Role Purpose:

To devise, coordinate and lead effective and engaging marketing communications that drive value for our business and enhance our reputation.

What you'll be doing

As a Marketing Communications Manager you will:

Work with senior management, bid teams and business leaders to develop, implement and evaluate marketing strategies that effectively position the company with key stakeholders and help the Group and its Strategic Business Units meet their objectives;
Work with stakeholders from across the business to develop, successfully deliver and measure multi-channel communications plans that are aligned to business objectives;
Ensure that all SBU marketing communications are in alignment with and supportive of the Group strategy, overarching Build to Last transformation programme and conform to the corporate brand identity standards;
Continually develop and apply our brand standards, ensuring we are best in class across all communications channels;
Understand and promote Group initiatives/programmes such as Zero Harm, 25 by 2025 etc. for the benefit of SBU stakeholders through SBU communications;
Craft high quality copy for use across all communications channels;
Manage, develop and administer company websites using the Umbraco and WordPress content management systems, keeping Balfour Beatty’s website portfolio at the forefront of design and functionality;
Monitor and continually review the company’s online presence on external channels such as Google Search Console, Wikipedia, Google and Apple Maps, joint venture websites and project websites;
Develop content for and monitor our social media channels, working with the Media & PR and other teams to ensure timely and accurate posting and sharing of content;
Produce, manage and publish corporate video content across all internal and external company channels including social media, employee communications and the company YouTube channel;
Working with the graphics team, support nationwide bid teams with the development, production and publishing of content including bid graphics, video and other outputs as required;
Develop marketing collateral including brochures, flyers, presentations and events materials;
Ensure issues, opportunities and key milestones that you become aware of through your interactions with the business and external stakeholders are shared in a timely manner with the wider communications team to enable them to deliver aligned communications outputs;
Manage a budget while continuously looking for ways to reduce spending and increase efficiency and productivity;
Manage and develop a small team and work with the wider team and Communications function to deliver agreed outputs;
Facilitate sharing of success and learning, continuous improvement and best practice among the Communications community of practice;
Manage external relationships with external suppliers, ensuring high quality, value for money outputs;
Deputise for line manager as and when required

Who we're looking for

Personal Qualities and Experience:

Degree or recognised post-graduate qualification in marketing, public relations, communications or a related field;
Excellent communication, copywriting and interpersonal skills with strong attention to detail;
The ability to manage multiple projects through to delivery despite competing challenges for time and resource;
Excellent attention to detail and methodical approach to managing work in progress, filing and archiving;
Strongly-focused on delivering results collaboratively, with quality and creativity;
Strong knowledge of best practice communications is required;
Good stakeholder management skills, with experience of setting, measuring and delivering communications goals;
Team player with ability to work with individuals across multiple geographical locations;
Adapts positively to changing business demands;
A self-starter with good organisation skills and the ability to manage conflicting deadlines;
A driving licence and willingness to travel.
