Position: SEN Class Teacher (Mon-Thurs)
Location: Sutton
Pay: £170 to £250 per day

We are working with a Outstanding SEN school based in Sutton that are looking for an SEN class Teacher to join them in September.

This school is focused on providing a nurturing and supportive environment for their students. Their approach is tailored to meet the individual needs of all their pupils, many of whom have experienced educational instability. Their mission is to help each child reach their full potential through a personalized and inclusive curriculum.

The Role:

They are seeking a compassionate and skilled SEN Class Teacher to join their already amazing team. You will be teaching one of their older classes (Years 4-6), consisting of 8 pupils who are generally Pathway 2 learners. These students have speech, language, and communication needs and/or ASD. They are concrete thinkers and subject-based learners, working at cognitive levels between 2 to 5 years, pre-Key Stage Standard 2 through to 4. The majority can engage in class/group learning for between 10-20 minutes, and their learning needs to be visual and kinaesthetic in nature.

Key Responsibilities:

Develop and deliver personalized lesson plans that cater to the unique needs of each student.
Create a supportive and inclusive classroom environment.
Collaborate with a team of 4-5 teaching assistants daily to support student learning.
Work alongside part-time speech and language and occupational therapists who support the class weekly.
Foster students’ personal and social education, helping them to understand their emotional needs and the perspectives of others.
Utilize the Link Curriculum Priorities to raise self-esteem and promote a positive attitude to learning.
Qualifications and Skills:

Experience in teaching children with speech, language, and communication needs and/or ASD.
Ability to create engaging, visual, and kinaesthetic learning experiences.
Strong classroom management skills.
A patient and empathetic approach to teaching.
Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
Relevant teaching qualifications.

About the Class:

The class is composed of students who typically join them during their junior period of primary education, often after a period of instability in their education. These children have good cognitive potential for learning but require a highly personalized approach to their personal and social education, which is their main barrier to achieving. Their curriculum helps them focus on and understand their emotional needs, see and understand life from the perspective of others, and develop self-esteem and a positive attitude to learning.

Application Process:

If you are passionate about making a difference in the lives of children with special educational needs and believe you have the skills and dedication to thrive in this role, we would love to hear from you.
