AWE is currently recruiting for a Principal Commissioning Manager to provide leadership and management of a professional engineering service in support of the CASD Programme and the company's strategic goals.

Location - Reading area

Package - £55,450 - £80,000 (depending on your suitability and level of experience)

What will you be required to do?

Appropriately organise Commissioning Teams and ensure key personnel are demonstrably competent to undertake their roles.

Acting as the Intelligent Customer providing an in-house capability being responsibility for the ownership, management and delivery of any commissioning services being provided by the implementation contractor.

Ensuring that commissioning activities follow the appropriate Project Delivery Map from design support through to handover to end user.

Being responsible for functional/task management to meet the professional standards, performance and integrity of the work and reporting information necessary to support the business objectives.

Ensuring compliance with Company Assurance Environment, Safety, Health and Quality (ESH&Q) and statutory requirements.

Supporting the Group Leader to ensure that appropriate resources are identified and allocated to meet business requirements; elevating areas of concern where appropriate.

Being responsible for the professional development, performance and ethical standards of the staff within their responsibility and reporting chain.

Whilst not considered a checklist, candidates should be able to demonstrate:

The Principal Commissioning Manager shall hold an appropriate qualification in a relevant engineering discipline; Degree/HNC/HND or equivalent experience.

The Principal Commissioning Manager shall have a proven track record and bring extensive knowledge and experience of the process of commissioning new plant in a multi-discipline, safety-critical and highly-regulated industry. Experience within the nuclear industry in particular would be desirable, but is not essential - we will also consider experience with other industries as well, process industry, oil & gas, power generation etc.

The Principal Commissioning Manager shall be able to effectively communicate and influence both internally and externally to AWE. This includes the ability to express clearly the importance of early thinking about commissioning, and to build credibility and support for the commissioning process.

The Principal Commissioning Manager shall be able to build effective networks across global industry to provide AWE with access to global best-practice.

The Principal Commissioning Manager shall lead the way in challenging conventional thinking, including proactively searching for industry best-practice wherever it will deliver a safer, more efficient and effective outcome.

Membership of an appropriate professional institute as an incorporated engineer with equivalent academic or vocational certification (Desirable).

Candidates must be willing and able to obtain and maintain the necessary security clearance for the role.
