Finance Director

Vantage Consulting are an award-winning, multi-brand specialist recruiter, currently looking for a Finance Director to join our growing team in Stafford.

The Finance Director is a key member of the leadership team, collaborating to develop and implement the business strategy. The role is responsible for overseeing the planning, implementation, management and running of the companies finance and operational activities. Including accounting, business planning, financial modelling, tax, budgeting, forecasting, negotiations, and leading the finance team.

Role and responsibilities

Supervise, actively manage and motivate the finance team
Ensure all aspects of the business are suitably insured and liaise with brokers to fully understand the risks. Implement policies and procedures to mitigate risks and control insurance premiums
Negotiate with Suppliers. Control Contracts.
Initiate and develop financial controls for the Sub-Contractor timesheet and pay cycle
Be the principal point of contact for Vantage for all banking relationships and negotiations
Maximise working capital by negotiating preferable terms and conditions with clients and suppliers
Keep the board informed about necessary information required by the owners (headroom, cashflow forecast, etc)
Work with business development teams to help produce competitive and high-quality bids for new projects.
Directly liaise with customers to maintain good relationships and effective credit control
Supervise all credit control processes
Supervise and control the smooth running of staff payroll
Oversee all VAT/PAYE and Corporation Tax returns to ensure accuracy and compliance
Help HR develop effective compensation and benefit schemes. Maintain and develop pay scales and structures suitable for the business and ensure competitiveness but within budgets
Oversee and Control the production of management accounts and additional management information (MI)
Management accounts to include trend analysis of the business KPIs, the Balance Sheet and trend analysis on those balance sheets
Interpret results and present MI to the Board and management teams
Produce a written Board report that provides analysis, exception reporting, and key points to accompany the monthly financial management accounts.
Investigate variances and negative trends and, pro-actively make recommendations to the Board for corrective business actions
Responsible for controlling the interim and year-end audit procedures and liaising with external accountants and/or auditors
Have oversight of all accounting and bill/pay software systems
Experience & qualifications

As the successful Finance Director, you should be able to demonstrate the following skills and experience:

AAT qualification (or equivalent)
CIMA/ACCA (or equivalent)
Strong management accounting and analysis skills
Significant experience of managing a team
Proven ability to interact with senior stakeholders, demonstrating a true business partner approach
Good understanding of finance regulations and legislation
Good working knowledge of IT, including excellent working knowledge of Excel to advanced level
Strong verbal and written communication skills
Excellent attention to detail and high levels of accuracy
