Title: Veterinarian. Hawkes Bay New Zealand. $90-$130k DOE per annum.

The thought of practicing veterinary abroad has always excited you.

The outdoor lifestyle, the mountains, the beaches on your doorstep have had you dreaming about moving to New Zealand for a long time.

But, you are worried about making that big decision and don’t want more of the same 10,000 miles from home!

What if we knew of a vet practice where lifestyle is key, without targets, where vets are free to work on their own cases, a practice with a loyal client base who are respectful and understanding of what you do, because they’ve been coming to you for years.

Well, you're in luck as we do and this one is hiring.

A modern practice based in the affluent area of Havelock North is recruiting for an experienced SA veterinarian to join their team. They offer a full range of services, including onsite Idexx blood testing, digital radiography, dental X-ray and ultrasound.

You would be joining a team of 3 full-time vets, 2 part-time vets, and 9 vet nurses. One of the few independent clinics left, they are happy to create a role for you with part-time and full-time on offer. Build a role around your lifestyle.

This isn’t a practice that cuts corners they have a team of experienced vets and nurses working in a relaxed, friendly environment together, doing what is right for the patient and practice

You can expect a varied caseload with a good mix of consults and surgery, owning your cases, and seeing them through. No production line consults here, 15 minutes are standard with extra for more complicated cases

They don’t believe in working their team into the ground, they want you rested and refreshed so you can be at your best.

So, it is 7.5 hours a day, an hour for lunch with time blocked off in your diary for your own hospital patients and phone calls/procedures.

This position includes rostered weekend (1in4 to 1in5) and on-call work. After-hours services are shared between ourselves and two other local clinics.

They recognise part of coming to NZ is to travel and see NZ, Australia, and the South Pacific so they will endeavour to be flexible and accommodating with time off. How many practices can say this?

So, what’s in it for you? S $90-130k NZD Negotiable, DOE. All vet fees paid for and vets receive ½ any professional fees charged. (consult, surgery time etc) on after-hours work. They will also look at helping with airfares for the right candidate.

With restaurants, coffee shops, local wineries, a variety of different sports, the stunning Te Mata Peak Park, and only a short drive to the nearest beaches what’s not to like?

So, what’s next?

Send your CV, don’t worry if it’s not up to date. We can’t get the whole story in a job ad so ask any questions. I’ll answer honestly, no hard sell.

Enjoy being a vet again on the other side of the world
