Senior Credit Risk Officer

Job Purpose

As the Senior Credit Risk Officer, you will spearhead the development, implementation, and ongoing monitoring of credit risk strategies and policies for loans. Collaborating closely with the CEO and Operations Director, you will provide clear recommendations to drive positive customer and business outcomes.

Responsibilities

Conduct comprehensive reviews of sampled loans and datasets to identify credit weaknesses, policy violations, and trends, proposing underwriting modifications as necessary.
Establish a robust credit risk framework balancing risk, reward, and responsible lending to support business growth and portfolio profitability.
Develop origination and collections methodologies/scorecards and refine approaches across risk methodologies.
Drive optimization of lending decisions through test and learn initiatives, identifying champion strategies for both new and existing customers.
Investigate and integrate new data sources for enhanced analysis and decision-making.
Train and support the loan approval team in assessing credit risk and evaluating loan applications.
Recognize and quantify emerging risks across various segments.
Ensure compliance with lending policies, regulations, and anti-money laundering practices.
Enhance monthly reporting and portfolio-level analysis to monitor performance and identify risks.
Collaborate on regulatory deliverables and other legal entity tasks requiring credit risk input.
Design and develop risk reporting dashboards for effective monitoring.

Requirements

5+ years of experience in credit review or credit analysis (subprime)
Strong understanding of lending principles, credit lifecycle, and regulatory compliance.
Proficiency in statistical techniques, data analysis, and credit risk management systems.
Excellent analytical and numerical skills with the ability to translate data into actionable insights.
Exceptional communication and problem-solving abilities.
Fluency in English.
Preferable experience with Data Analysis, and Data Modelling.
Ability to work independently and collaboratively.
Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and office software.
