Senior Commercial Manager

One of our Civil Engineering clients require an experienced Senior Commercial Manager to join the team on Suffolk Highways Term Maintenance contract, based in Ipswich and lead the commercial function.

Key Duties & Responsibilities
• Member of the Contract Leadership Team, and the businesses Commercial Leadership Team, reporting to the local Business Director and functionally to the Regional Commercial Director
• Managing commercial team of 11 including line management duties and personal development
• Cost and value management for project in accordance with monthly reporting cycle
• Timely application and collection of payment to optimise cash inflow and limit WIP
• Change management for project
• Ensure all required notices are issued in a timely manner.
• Liaise with the customer, his representatives and other 3rd parties on commercial issues, including the agreement of additional monies and payment thereof.
• Annual forecasting remaining contract life, with regular updates to Management
• Risk and opportunity management for project
• Managing Supply Chain across 25 packages, and portfolio of suppliers for each package
• Timely payment of supply chain
• Identification of unacceptable terms and conditions and negotiating contracts and subcontracts with clients/employers and supply chain
• Procurement for project, in conjunction with Regional Procurement Manager
• Financial reporting for project, in conjunction with local Finance
• Identification, preparation and negotiation of claims with Clients and Supply Chain
• Advise insurers of claims and assist with negotiations
• Assist with dispute resolution
• Identification of unacceptable wording in bonds, warranties and other guarantees

Essential Skills
• Excellent diagnostic, analytic and communication skills
• A comprehensive level of commercial experience preferably with a contracting organisation.
• Preferably - Experience of £40m per annum Term Maintenance contract – high volume, low value Task Orders
• A recognised qualification in a construction related subject
• Preferably qualified to ICES or RICS accreditation
• Relevant CSCS Card preferred
