Renewable Energy Technology | Brand new role | London (hybrid)

Hynamics is a leading company in low-carbon and renewable hydrogen technology. Created four years ago, and wholly owned, by the EDF Group it has now opened a UK office and is involved in some high-profile projects.

bfpeople is retained to find a Director of Finance and Administration to play a crucial role in its development and future. This is a unique opportunity to join a dynamic start-up, within the EDF Group, and make a significant impact in the renewable energy industry.

The company produces and markets low-carbon and renewable hydrogen. It works with large industrial organisations to decarbonise their processes and to produce hydrogen. It also partners with public and private sector transportation operators to produce distribution systems to power hydrogen fuel cell vehicles.

The role

As the effective CFO of the business, you will support the UK CEO in growing the UK business. This broad and challenging role covers finance, investment, HR, legal, IT, due diligence, governance, and compliance. You will be tasked with setting up the company’s finance, HR, and other processes and systems from scratch, ensuring full compliance.

You will be involved in establishing and managing due diligence and risk for the funding of complex, large-scale infrastructure projects. This involves working with partners and stakeholders, including financial, government and industrial organisations. This will require the creation of legal packages, negotiating and finalising contracts with all concerned.

You will also have responsibility for HR and IT as part of your role, along with all the support activities found in a high-profile, fast-growing business.

About you

I am seeking someone with a background in corporate finance with good knowledge of large-project financing, law and contracts, and human resources. You will be strong on governance and compliance and be able to show that you have set up a range of systems and processes in a growing business.

Evidence of having worked in a complex multi-stakeholder environment, or being central in externally-funded joint venture activities, is expected.

Some of your career will have been spent in industry, not solely services, and ideally in a relevant sector. You will need to be technically sound, able to lead and inspire a small team and build strong relationships with a wide range of group colleagues, partners, stakeholders, and customers.

The UK team is small but highly motivated and committed. It is important that you fit with the dynamic nature of the company. So, some experience of working in a small business, perhaps a start-up, is preferred. You must be able to demonstrate the ability to be hands-on, agile, and responsive to quickly changing priorities.

An enthusiasm for renewable energy and a desire to be an ambassador for the business and industry are vital.

You are likely to have a Masters (or equivalent) in Business and/or Finance.

Some knowledge of French would be advantageous.

Hybrid working

This demanding but rewarding job is based in Victoria, London, with the flexibility to work in the office three or four days a week, as required. You must live close enough to London to make this work and have the right to work in the UK.

Hynamics has an open culture, where you are encouraged to speak up and where great communication skills and team spirit are essential. In this role, you have the opportunity to build on that culture and shape the future of the business.

This is a great career opportunity for someone seeking to make their mark in the renewable energy industry.

If you have the experience, background, and drive to join this ground-breaking business at this exciting time, I'm looking forward to your application
