Production Team Leader

Days - Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday 6am-6pm (after 6 weeks rotates to Thursday, Friday, Saturday for a further 6 weeks)
Here at Selby we employ a team over 750 colleagues. A site steeped in history, we are the UK's number one manufacturer of customer private label cooking sauces and pickles. We have been serving our customers out of our Selby site since 1914. We produce more than 160 million units per year across 600 different product lines for customers such as Morrisons, Tesco & Asda.
Pay rates (Over time is after 36 hours a week x1.25)
Day shift - £13.33 an hour (Rises to £15.23 an hour after hitting required skill level)
What you'll be doing

Responsibility for all aspects of Health and Safety in the work area
Required to run the beetroot cooking machinery
Lead, manage and control personnel in conjunction with the Area Process Leader
Improve communication to department on KPI achievements in conjunction with Area Process Leaders
Completion of production plan on time, in full to the agreed customer specifications
Improve on non right first time by ensuring the Standard Operating Procedure are followed
Ensure Operatives are fully trained, capable and available to run planned production requirements for the dedicated production filling lines
Adhere to housekeeping standard through 5S process. (once training provided)
Adhere to Good Manufacturing Practices for area
Ensure internal suppliers/customer relationships and information flows are improved to support Area Process Leaders
Ensure Operatives adhere to production schedule
Minimise product wastage
Ensure consistent and clear communication of department status at shift change over
Ensure team adherence to regulations relating to hygiene, dress and equipment use
Working closely with Area Process Leader to meet production plan
Adhering to Food Manufacturing Safety and Quality Standards
Ensuring adequate skills are trained to Operatives
Reporting any deficiencies to the Area Process Leader(s)
Lead, motivate and support team to meet production performance requirements
Support implementation of Lean Manufacturing Techniques to area
Regular communication of performance and KPI's for your area of responsibilities
Liaising directly with Area Process Leader on the schedule to meet production plan
Aid and where necessary cover Operatives roles to achieve daily production plan
Carrying out any tasks as required to ensure achievement of the daily production plan
Ensure documentation completed and distributed
Resolve manning issues on a day to day basis
Resolve production problems and ensure Area Process Leader is aware to ensure smooth departmental running
Monitor and put into practice quality, safety and hygiene policies
Constant management and improvement of Vegetable Preparation team
Ensure an effective handover at the shift changeover always takes place with the other shift Team Leader
Assisting during the strip down of equipment, particularly during the shut down periodWhat we're looking for

Experience managing a team
Experience operating manufacturing machinery
Worked in a Food Manufacturer previously
Minimum GCSE level (or equivalent) in English and Maths
Food Safety Level 3 (training can be given)
